Smooth, glowing skin is something that we all aspire to have. Eating a healthy diet filled with wholesome foods, drinking plenty of water and following a robust skincare regime is essential for clear skin. Unfortunately, even if you’re doing everything right, the pollution and acne-causing bacteria can still cause irritation and blemishes. Luckily, following these simple hygiene tips can help you to combat these negative effects:
You have probably heard people say that someone “just has good skin”, but the truth is that behind that seemingly perfect, smooth skin is a stable, well-balanced skin routine and self-care, without which, no matter how good your genetics, you wouldn’t be able to have good skin. So, let’s see what are the seven most important steps to having a flawless skin routine.
The most important part of any skin routine is to first get rid of any impurities that have collected in your pores and on the surface of your skin during the day or while you were sleeping. Use a gentle cleanser like the Clarins cleansing milk to remove impurities without being too hard on your gentle skin.
2. Choose your cosmetics carefully
We live in the day and age when most of the things we use every day are filled with all sorts of chemicals. But for certain things, like the food we eat or the products we apply to our skin, we want to make extra sure that they’re as natural as possible, to give us the best results. Organic, all natural brands like Tammy Fender are great options and they will give you the best results, while also not hurting our planet.
3. Get enough sleep
Many of us lead active, non-stop lifestyles, and are often left having to compensate for that fact, like taking supplements because we don’t have time to eat or putting concealer on the bags under our eyes because we didn’t get enough sleep. But the truth is, there is no product in the world that can do for us all the things that a full night’s sleep can do. It will not only replenish our energy, but give our skin time to recover and rest.
4. Apply sun protection
Everyone likes to put on a tan, but if you’re not careful, you can seriously damage your skin just by being in the sun. Let’s break it down: the vitamin that you get from the sun is great – not just for your skin, but for your whole body. However, the sun is not what it used to be, and the rays are now more harmful than ever. This is why it’s extremely important to use a product with the high SPF, every single day. Use a primer like Nars multi-protect, or apply sunscreen during your makeup routine.
For glowing skin, it is crucial to be well hydrated, inside and out. Hydrated skin has more elasticity, fewer wrinkles and its own special glow. There are two main things you should do: First, drink a lot of water. The 8 cups per day are just a minimum, so make sure you carry a water bottle around with you and drink whenever you feel thirsty. Secondly, you should always be using a good hydration cream. Products like The Body Shop’s Nourishing night cream are great to put on before you go to bed, while lighter options like Estee Lauder’s Daywear is the perfect thing to apply in the morning before putting on makeup.
6. Regular treatments
Having a daily routine is important, but sometimes our skin requires extra care. Consider making it a part of your monthly or quarterly routine to go to a professional cosmetician for a treatment of your choice that will improve your skin and give it a boost. But for a more regular schedule, getting a good scrub like the Cosmedix Purity Detox scrub will allow you to exfoliate your skin more frequently. Make sure you don’t do it more than every third day, because you risk taking off too much of the top layer, and always follow the instructions on the product.
7. Healthy habits
It’s no secret that beauty comes from within, and the same goes for health. If you practice healthy habits, eat a balanced diet, drink lots of water and exercise regularly, your skin will show the glow and radiance of health. Avoid eating oily and greasy food, since it can clog your pores; and avoid dehydration to keep your skin glowing.
Of course, some skin types are prone to acne and other blemishes, but as long as you are doing everything in your power to have healthy, happy skin, you can show it off to the world and be proud of it.

The pout is everything, especially when paired with a gorgeous set of pearly whites and an attitude that will sass out any competition in the way. Everything you are is read through your body language and facial expressions, which is why almost every single detail you’ve got going on means one thing or the other. No, nobody’s saying be fake to make it! Rather, we are suggesting be who you are and let the world see the beauty you are hiding by carefully manipulating your given gorgeousness.
For all you queens out there who are looking to show the world what you are made of, here are some tips on how to “use” your already beautiful lips and turn them into your shield and armor!
Here we go.
Australian consumers spend well over $20 million a year on cosmetics. Studies show that physical appearance plays an important part in our social interactions, interpersonal relations and job success.
Traditionally, cosmetics were used simply to beautify or decorate the skin.
Cosmetic counters are now stocked high with potions and creams that will rejuvenate our skin, prevent wrinkles or modify the ageing process.
Cosmetics have actually been used for over 4000 years! Greeks used lanolin (which is sheep’s wool) as a moisturizer in AD 100, Romans took milk baths and also used powder to make themselves whiter! Powder was also used in the Elizabethan era.
The purpose of cleansers is to remove dirt and makeup from the skin. There are three types of cleansers available. Soaps should not be used on the face, although soaps are very effective for cleaning the skin.
For example, you can use Neutrogena – Liquid Fresh Cleanser and Makeup remover.

To me, blogging is all about talking about your favourite things and what you are most passionate about. As you have seen so far, I am a lover of skincare and using natural products to enhance your outer beauty. Since moving to the country, I have met a lady that makes her OWN skincare range, which I have previously mentioned but only mentioned it a little bit. I love women who are creative in what they do, and Kirsty does just that! She has been a Beauty Therapist for 20 years, so she knows what she is doing!
Follow her company at:
She does waxing, facials, tinting, massage, manicures and pedicures for those who are in Merredin, Tammin, Cunderdin and the rest of the Central Wheatbelt of Western Australia. She also does Microdermabrasion Facials which has a lot included such as exfoliation, steam, microdermabrasion, head neck and shoulder massage, cooling mask, tone, Vitamin C Serum and moisturise.
I recently tried her Mineral Clay Mask which was just heavenly after it is rinsed! It dries up really well, and you leave on for about 10-20 minutes, and scrub off with warm water and a flannel. It comes in a powder form as per below, so you just put a few drips of water in and voila, let the magic do it itself!!! It has natural herbs in it, and there are different types, for normal skin to combination, and oily skin and it is ONLY $25. This is on my “TO BUY” list.
Here is the “Enter the Sandman bath soak” which is $20, and the “Dead Sea Float” is $35. – They are both for muscle and joint aches and to also help you sleep which has relaxing essential oils. I am in need of this after a work out at the gym, especially after using a Jari Love fitness DVD! It really works your thighs! I feel like I need this now!!! Both these products (when used together) will soothe your body and leave you floating on a cloud!!

Getting organised for the Melbourne Cup Luncheon in Merredin has been quite cinch! In Perth, about three weeks ago I bought a couple of Forever New dresses and some from the Target Collection, so that I have a few to choose from for when I go out. I am not normally a Target shopper, but there was quite a few beautiful summer/spring numbers!! And Target is one of the main retail stores in the street of Merredin. Check out the Target Collection on line for some nice Spring Racing Dresses.
My choice of dress for the occasion was a Target Lace Shift Dress in Paradise Pink, which I paired with some Novo Designer Light Brown Heels. A picture of the shoes is also on my Instagram page that I wore to the Woolshed Hotel in Nungarin for a birthday. The ear-rings that I am wearing are Swarovski.
My very talented friend, Kirsty Mackenzie put together the dazzling fascinator in just half an hour!! I was going to wear a pink fascinator that I wore to Melbourne Cup two years ago, but thought it may not match the dress properly. Thank God for Kirsty!! She is so wonderful at making things look pretty and most of all I love her Skincare Range that she makes herself! She set up her products as a stall at the luncheon and is known as The Beauty Bus. Follow her on Instagram, and get updated on her products and see what she does with them! She also does an amazing blog…. Follow Kirsty here. My beautiful mum also did my hair!!
As I arrived, we were greeted with a glass of bubbly’s, finger food and there was a lucky door prize we could enter, and prizes for the best dressed and best fascinator. The Sophisticats Walking Team hosted it, and all money raised for this wonderful event is donated to the Perth Weekend to End Women’s Cancer. So the money went towards a good cause.
I can gladly say I WON Best Fascinator towards the end of the day!!! Best dressed went to a lady, Nola and Best Shoes went to Asha Carr. What I also loved was that there were stalls set up for bags, Park Lane jewellery, and Arbonne skincare and makeup. I tried a sample of FC5 Conditioning Body Moisture and it felt silky smooth and would be nice to put on for when you go out into the sun!! I think this product is a GREAT beach buy!! Zane Walker is an Independent Consultant and sells the Arbonne products! There is sooo much to try!! The products with a red dot were ones that had samples. Zane has been so kind and has given me quite a few samples to try, such as the FC5 Ultra Hydrating Hand Creme. This is a MUST try!!
So all in all, it was a fabulous day and eventful!! I won another prize, a Designer Brands makeup bag and a Heated Lash Curler, so I left with some goodies….!! And felt happy at the end of the day!!
What did you do for Melbourne Cup today?
